Question: What was the last book that made you cry?Honestly, books rarely make me actually cry. The last book I remember really hardcore crying as I read was The Fault In Our Stars. I think I may have felt some little tear prickles more recently in Code Name Verity, but since it was an audiobook I have a tendency to pause the book when it gets sad so that I can calm down and not get distracted driving.
If you want to know what actually makes me almost-cry regularly, stories about animals. Sadly, the animal shelter in my hometown burned right after Christmas and every time I read a story about it I cried. When the found the lone cat survivor I cried. When I read that the cat was recovering nicely a few weeks later more crying. Whenever someone posts a picture of an animal looking for it's "forever home" I almost cry. Maybe if I want to cry while reading I should read more animal books. Or maybe that's a terrible idea and I should just keep not crying.

I am with you on the crying over animal books. I know everyone loves the Knife of Never Letting Go books, but I had to stop almost 3/4ths of the way through because I could not handle what was happening to the dog. It was giving me nightmares and making me depressed.

That is so sad. I have a difficult time reading books with animals in them because I'm always scared something will happen to them.

I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars yet because I keep hearing it is very sad.
I rarely cry in books too, but I tend to avoid books that give me those sobs heh.

Yes, TFIoS made me cry too! But I think I'm actually often crying while reading - I'm so emotional even happy things can make me cry sometimes :D
Have a great weekend, Cassi!

Ooh I am right there with you about animal shelter stories. Heck every time that one commercial comes on--and it's soooooooo long--about animal abuse and sometimes has a Sarah Mc-something-that-I can't-recall-how-to-spell song it gets even worse! We have dogs in our family--two pesky, mischievous little brats--but you gotta love them. So even seeing or hearing about animal abuse gets me into tears. I can't watch that commercial anymore. Couldn't handle it the first time and I couldn't dive for my remote fast enough!
Onto the books...seeing a lot of The Fault in Our Stars around today! Especially with the upcoming movie. I'm always surprised when my paranormal books can make me cry. It's usually something shocking that happens unexpectedly, like a death. That totally shocks me to my core and I usually have to go back and re-read the paragraph because I'm like, no....s/he did not just die!!
But yes, they did.
